A Senior Photoshoot at the Great Salt Lake
As a senior photographer in Utah, one of the most exhilarating experiences I’ve had was a recent senior photoshoot at the Pink Great Salt Lake in Grantsville, Utah at Stansbury Island. Grantsville, Utah is approximately 35 to 40 miles west of Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). The drive usually takes about 40 to 50 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.This unique location, known for its strikingly pink water, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable session with three of my amazing 2023-2024 Senior Rep Team members from high schools around Davis County, Utah.

Our day at the Pink Great Salt Lake was filled with excitement and joy. The seniors from the 2024 Senior Rep Team brought so much energy and laughter that we lost track of time, staying well past daylight. The salty shores of the lake presented their own challenges, with the salt being harsh on our feet, but the girls were absolute troopers. Their enthusiasm and resilience added a layer of fun and adventure to the shoot, making the experience as dynamic as the stunning scenery.

Just as we thought the day couldn’t get any better, a massive storm began to roll in from the horizon. The sky transformed into a breathtaking canvas of rosy and dramatic hues, creating a perfect backdrop for our photos. As the storm clouds clashed with the cotton candy pink water of the lake, we captured some truly dramatic and unique shots. The interplay between the dark, stormy clouds and the vibrant pink water made for an awe-inspiring visual that highlighted the beauty of Utah’s landscapes.
