Leah Louviere Photography · Your Christmas mini guide

A little planning.
A lot of Christmas.

Let’s get everyone ready for tree-farm photos that feel cozy, coordinated, and like your family.

Start with the outfit ideas below, save the directions, and send me a photo of what you’re thinking. I’d love to help before photo day!

Evergreen + cream + a small red accent. Warm textures make the whole look feel finished.

01 / The part that makes a big difference

Think cozy winter.
Then coordinate from there.

The trees already bring plenty of green and texture. Knits, corduroy, wool, denim, boots, and a simple holiday accent fit this setting beautifully.

My easiest outfit formula: choose two or three colors for the whole family, add one light neutral, and keep everyone at a similar level of dressiness. You don’t need matching outfits—just pieces that look good together.

Warm & neutral

CreamCamelNavy

Cream sweater, camel cardigan, dark denim, and brown boots. Let one plaid shirt tie those colors together while everyone else wears solids.

Classic Christmas

BurgundyCreamEvergreen

A burgundy dress or sweater, cream knitwear, and a deep green layer. Use red as an accent and spread it through the group instead of putting everyone in bright red.

Soft winter

Dusty roseOatmealCharcoal

A muted pink sweater with oatmeal, charcoal or dark denim. A coordinating knit hat adds warmth without needing a traditional red-and-green outfit.

One pattern, repeated colors, and different textures. Everyone coordinates without wearing the same thing.

Build the outfits in this order.

  1. Choose one outfit you love and feel comfortable in.
  2. Pull two or three colors from it for everyone else.
  3. Add a light piece—cream or oatmeal helps faces stand out from dark trees.
  4. Mix textures and mostly solid colors. One patterned piece is usually enough.
  5. Lay every outfit on the bed together, including shoes and coats. Take a photo and text it to me.

The outfit inspiration

Festive can look a few different ways.

A dressier holiday look. Red plaid, a warm jacket, and boots feel intentional together. For a family, repeat the plaid’s colors in solid pieces.

Let one festive knit lead. Pair a red-and-cream sweater with simple denim or trousers. Keep the rest of the group’s patterns quiet.

Soft color works, too. Dusty rose, a coordinating hat, and dark denim still feel like winter. You don’t have to wear red.

Choose these.

  • Cozy sweaters, long sleeves, textured dresses and warm tights.
  • Dark, clean denim or trousers, with boots or simple closed-toe shoes.
  • Layers that look good in photos: a wool coat, cardigan, vest or knit hat.
  • Clothes that fit and let you sit, bend, pick up kids and move comfortably.
  • One outfit per person so we can spend the mini taking photos.

Leave these for another day.

  • Neon, large logos, character graphics, slogans and athletic wear.
  • Several competing plaids or busy patterns across the family.
  • Everyone in dark green or black from head to toe—you can disappear into the trees. Break dark colors up with a light neutral.
  • Summer sandals, thin sleeveless clothes, or shoes that make walking difficult.
  • A mix of very formal clothing and gym clothes. Keep the overall feel consistent.

These are styling suggestions, not a shopping list. Start with what you own. If you love a bolder piece, send it to me and we can work the other outfits around it.

02 / Save this before the drive

The trees are in Tremonton.

Petals and Pines Farm

5695 W 6400 N Rd
Tremonton, UT 84337

Your 2026 Christmas minis are on November 22 and 25. Use your booking confirmation for your own date and exact time.

Check the drive from your home and allow time for parking, getting kids out, and walking over. Follow the farm’s signs and any arrival instructions I send. Text me if you have trouble finding us.

Be ready before your start time.

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early, fully dressed. Minis run back to back, so your 15 minutes begin at your scheduled time and can’t run into the next family’s slot.

Late arrival shortens your session without a refund or reschedule. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may be treated as a no-show under your contract.

Have a restroom break beforehand, finish snacks, wipe faces, and put phones and keys away before we begin.

Comfort, warmth, and a little personality belong in your photos.

03 / Keep it easy

Warm kids are happier kids.

Try outfits on ahead of time. Add fitted warm layers underneath, warm socks, and shoes they can walk in. Keep coats and blankets close for before and after photos.

Feed kids before you arrive, bring a small non-messy snack, and let them know we’re going to take a few photos together. Skip the pressure to be perfect—I’ll guide you and keep things moving.

Bring wipes, tissues and a brush for last-minute cleanup. Keep little ones supervised around the trees and other visitors.

Thinking of bringing a pet? Check with me first so we can confirm the farm’s current rules and your session plan. Bring a leash, treats, cleanup bags and someone who can help when the pet isn’t in photos.

04 / The practical details

A few booking reminders.

These are the key points from the contract and mini questionnaire attached to the Christmas booking. Your signed documents and invoice remain the full terms for your session.

Session size, package & payment

Christmas tree farm minis are 15 minutes with 5 edited digital images. The booking questionnaire lists family sessions for under 6 people, with senior and maternity options too. Ask me before adding participants or changing the session type.

The listed price is $175 plus tax, with $75 collected at booking. Your invoice shows the remaining amount; the balance is due no later than your session date unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. The retainer is non-refundable. Galleries are held until payment is complete. The contract provides a $50 late fee if payment is still outstanding 7 days after the session.

Weather changes

I make the weather decision. Cloudy skies alone don’t mean we need to reschedule. If conditions become concerning, I’ll do my best to move the minis to another day and contact you with the plan.

The mini questionnaire says that if you cannot attend the weather replacement date, you receive a $175 plus tax credit toward a future Leah Louviere Photography session. Please check in with me rather than assuming your session is canceled. The general contract also addresses photographer cancellations; your signed booking terms apply to your situation.

If your plans change

Contact me as soon as possible. The contract allows one reschedule with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability. Retainers are non-refundable. Same-day cancellations and no-shows forfeit all payments. A request to move a mini depends on available space; another mini date is not guaranteed.

Your photos & Christmas cards

You’ll receive edited photos in an online gallery. The Christmas page promises quick turnaround for cards; it does not list a specific delivery day. The standard contract says 2–3 weeks unless otherwise stated, so message me about any card-order deadline and use the delivery timing I confirm for your booking.

RAW or unedited files aren’t provided. Your personal-use license lets you print and share your photos. Please don’t add filters, alter, crop or use images commercially without written permission. Let me know before the session in writing if you want to opt out of portfolio or marketing use.

05 / Ready to go

The five-minute check.

Lay everything out the night before so the last few minutes at the farm can be calm.

Tap the boxes as you pack. Marks are for this visit only.

Outfit help or a quick question?

Send it my way.

Text me a photo of everyone’s outfits laid out together. I can help you make a few adjustments before your session. If you’re on your way and need to reach me, call or text.
