Baby Sonora’s family lives in downtown Salt Lake City, and their home had a smaller footprint — something many parents worry about when considering in-home newborn photos. This session is proof that limited space does not limit beautiful images.

We started the session with posed newborn photos while mom and dad finished getting ready. I set up in the best available light and kept everything simple, calm, and baby-led. Once Sonora was settled, we transitioned into lifestyle images.

We photographed baby in her nursery, then moved upstairs near the living room window where the natural light was perfect. During the session, mom’s sister stopped by and loved watching the entire process — a reminder that in-home newborn sessions feel relaxed and personal.

Curious Cats Included

One of my favorite moments from this Salt Lake City in-home newborn session was Sonora’s curious cats quietly watching from nearby. We were even able to capture a sweet image of baby with one of the cats — safely, calmly, and completely baby-led.
